Lake Guntersville and Wilson Lake
As a little boy growing up in Huntsville, I fished with my father and grandfather at Guntersville Lake and Wilson Lake. I became fascinated with fishing. It controlled my every thought as a boy. At age 5 I caught my first 5 lb. bass on a plastic worm and at age 9, I caught a 7 lb. and an 8 lb. largemouth in two consecutive throws right before a thunderstorm. My dad wanted to go but I kept asking for just “one more throw”. We actually got caught in the storm and sought shelter in an empty boat house.
Through the years, I have been able to fish at least a couple of days a week as I have continued working at my father’s business. I started fishing small club tournaments when I was 16. In 2007, I started fishing in the Bassmaster Weekend Series and in my first year, I finished in the top 10 and got to attend the Regionals in LaGrange, GA. In 2009, I began fishing in the Dixieland Bassmaster tournaments with my best friend, Shane Byars. We are currently 4th in the points.
I attended the Passport Marine Training School in Pensacola, FL and received my U.S. Coast Guard certified captain’s license. My goal as a guide is to make sure that each person learns as much as possible about how to catch fish! I am thrilled to be able to fish for a living, and I want to have as much fun as possible while doing it.
